Our history
Chabad-Lubavitch was founded in 1775 by Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi, built on a simple idea: every Jew matters, and every place deserves Jewish life. Two and a half centuries later it has become the largest Jewish outreach movement in the world, with emissary couples in more than 100 countries. In Australia, Chabad has been building communities since the 1940s - from Sydney and Melbourne to every corner of the country - and the Federation carries that work forward as one national family.
